Paul Djurisic

Paul Djurisic, born and raised in Chicago Illinois, is a graduate of the University of Illinois – Urbana with honors in economics. He obtained his Juris Doctor from DePaul University in 1991. Following graduation, he did a six month internship with United States District Court Judge George M. Marovich, and then began his legal career as General Counsel for a professional golf tournament operations company. He spent the next 14 years practicing immigration with his own boutique immigration practice before merging with Chicago’s largest immigration firm in April, 2007.

He was the 2006-2007 President of the Serbian Bar Association of America, and is a member of the American Immigration Lawyers Association. He relocated to Scottsdale, Arizona where he is principal of his own boutique immigration law practice. He is licensed in Illinois, the 7th and 9th Circuit Court of Appeals and the United States Supreme Court. During his 22-year immigration law career, he has handled thousands of immigration business and litigation matters across the globe.

Petar D. Bubreško

Peter D. Bubresko, professor emeritus, fell asleep in the Lord December 3, 2006. He was an associate professor of French literature & language at Texas Tech University, Lubbock, Texas, which he joined in 1964-77. He earned his B.A. in 1933 and his M.A. in 1935 from the University of Belgrade. He also studied at the University of Grenoble in France (1933-34). He was a recipient of a scholarship from the French Government (1936-39), he studied at Sorbonne under the guidance of Paul Van Thiegen. He prepared in Paris a doctoral thesis on Yovan Dutchich, a study interrupted by WWII. He taught seven years at the junior college level in Yugoslavia and West Germany and later in the United States at St. Olaf College, Northfield, Minn (1960-63).

A Collection of Iconographic Essays and Illustrations

The Serbian Orthodox Diocese of Western America is pleased to announce the publication of an outstanding book by Fr. Stamatis Skliris, a disciple of the great twentieth-century theologians Archimandrite Justin Popovich and Bishop Athanasius Yevtich. Fr. Stamatis is a parish priest in Athens and is renowned as an iconographer and as a writer and lecturer on Byzantine iconography.

In the Mirror is the second of a planned collection of works of contemporary theologians. It is an anthology of Fr. Stamatis’ articles which have appeared in Greek and Serbian. In it, he combines adherence to the teachings of the Church Fathers with a vibrant expression of faith through the experience of Christ in the Church. The book is adorned with more than 200 striking icons and illustrations by Fr. Stamatis.
