On May 24, 2016, on behalf of His Grace Bishop MAXIM of the Western American Diocese of the Serbian Orthodox Church in North and South America, Father Branislav Golic and I presented the book Christian Heritage of Kosovo and Metohija as a gift to the Gumberg Library at Duquesne University. On behalf of the Gumberg Library and Duquesne University, the book was accepted by Dr. Sara Baron, University Librarian, who expressed thanks for the gift, welcomed all guests, and introduced speakers.

Dr. James Swindal, Professor and Dean of McAnulty College and Graduate School of Liberal Arts, welcomed Rev. Father Golic and I from the Serb National Federation. He stressed Duquesne’s mission: “Duquesne, as a Spiritan University, is dedicated to the Holy Spirit. The role of the Holy Spirit is God’s love for us is to bring unity. A unity that in biblical contexts brought energy to the witness of those to the Christian faith. More specifically, Duquesne University is committed – as through Spiritans who guide our mission – to interreligious dialogue. It is in fact a hallmark of our Department of Theology.” He also expressed gratitude to Milos Rastovic and the Serb National Federation, who were a key in the organization of this event: “Milos was a an MA student in our Philosophy Department when I was Chair. But, I was not just Chair, as I was also a mentor, a coach of sorts, and a fellow traveler in all things philosophical and political… I could not imagine a better Cultural Ambassador for Serbia, and one who is a true philosopher, than Milos.” Dr. Swindal concluded with the following words: “I am again so pleased for this gift, and note how it symbolizes a true and ongoing spirit of cooperation between Duquesne University and the Western American Diocese of the Serbian Orthodox Church – a collaboration that we trust will endure for years.”

То је било веома успешно решење и људима је уливало наду – каже за наш лист Звездана Стојмировић, која је недавно у СКЦ-у на Новом Београду одржала предавање о графичком дизајну. Завршила је сликарство у Њујорку и мастер из графичког дизајна у Балтимору, где данас предаје на академији MICA. Са Хелен Армстронг написала је књигу „Учествуј! Радити дизајн са корисничким садржајем”. Рођена је у Пекингу, живела у Судану, а од 1984. настањена је у САД.

Voinovich, considered a moderate who opposed the size of former President George W. Bush’s tax cuts and later questioned Bush’s war strategy in Iraq, died peacefully in his sleep, his wife Janet confirmed. His death came as a surprise to friends, who said he seemed strong despite some recent health struggles.

Супруга Џорџа Војиновића Џенет саопштила је да је он преминуо у сну, јавља АП, а преноси Тајм.

Џорџ Виктор Војиновић је био амерички политичар из Охаја. Рођен је 1936. у Кливленду, као дете оца Србина, пореклом са Кордуна, и мајке Словенке. Био је најстарији од шесторо деце.

Агенција АП наводи да је Војиновић био умерен политичар.

[NEW YORK POST] Parishioners watched in horror as a massive 4-alarm fire engulfed a Serbian Orthodox church in Manhattan on Sunday — hours after hundreds celebrated Easter services, authorities said.

“For this to happen on such a holy day, I don’t know what to say,” said Alex Velic, a 31-year-old churchgoer, as enormous fireballs erupted from the shattered windows of the Serbian Orthodox Cathedral of St. Sava on West 25th Street.

“To see it burning like that is such a shock. It’s just so sad,” he said. “I can’t think of the words to express how I’m feeling.”

Bishop Maxim spoke about the efforts of the Serbian Orthodox Church to preserve its centuries-old monuments and the Christian heritage of Kosovo and Metohija.

North American Society for Serbian Studies is inviting nominations for the annual Miša Djordjević Book Prize.​ ​The prize is awarded annually to a distinguished scholar or student in the area of Serbian studies.
